College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences Scholarship Programs)

About

The scholarship programs offered under the College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences (CAENS) were established to recruit, mentor, and train undergraduate students pursuing studies in food and agricultural sciences. These scholarship programs encourage outstanding students to pursue and complete baccalaureate degrees in food and agricultural sciences and related areas.

The scholarship awards are intended to supplement, not complement, the financial aid already awarded to a student. That is to say, they add value to the resources the University or external sources have committed to the student, not to complete them.

Eligibility

The scholarship awards are funded by the USDA and other organizations with the express intent to support high-achieving students with confirmed interests in careers as food or agricultural scientists. To receive the scholarship award, the student must be:

  • Enrolled in a degree program in food and agricultural sciences:
    • Agribusiness
    • Animal and Veterinary Sciences
    • Environmental, Natural Resources, and Plant Sciences
    • Food and Nutritional Sciences
  • Making consistent satisfactory academic progress towards the degree:
    • Thirty (30) credits earned per year
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.80 / 4.00
  • Actively engaging in academic support and career building activities as directed

Depending on the availability of funds, the award is renewable for up to four years or eight semesters of good standing.

The CAENS scholarship programs are open to high school students and college transfer students who demonstrate competence and commitment to pursue careers in food and agriculture. The programs provide funding that may be applied to tuition and room and board, depending on the program.

Applicants under 18 years old should first obtain the permission of a parent or guardian. Also, a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) should have been submitted to the University at the time of application.

Funding is limited and awards will be made on a 鈥渞olling鈥 basis until exhausted.
